Swarthmore is named after Swarthmoor Hall, a seventeenth century Elizabethan home in England that served as the point of convergence of the early Quaker improvement. In 1863, Swarthmore College was developed for the preparation of Quaker children. In a matter of seconds nonsectarian, the College has more than 40 courses of study and more than 1,500 understudies.
